Professor Oded Nahlieli, DMD is Chairman of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
at Assuta Ramat Hachial Medical Center, Tel Aviv, and Chairman of the Minimal
Invasive and Endoscopic Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Unit at the Galilee Medical
Center, Naharia, Israel.
He graduated from the Hebrew University–Hadassah School of Dental Medicine in
Jerusalem and completed his initial residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in
Israel. This was followed by an additional residency at the Department of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, USA (1988–1989).
Prof. Nahlieli previously served as Chairman of the Department of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgery at Barzilai University Medical Center, Ashkelon, Israel. He is
currently a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev,
and Adjunct Professor at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health, University of
Rochester, NY, USA.
He served as President of the Israeli Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (1998–
2000) and currently chairs the Israeli Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Since 1993, Prof. Nahlieli has been a pioneer in the development of salivary gland
endoscopy (sialendoscopy) and has extensive experience in this field. In 2010, he
received recognition from the Israeli government for his achievements and
innovations. In 2019, he was honored by the International Society for Salivary Glands
for his pioneering contributions to salivary gland endoscopy.
He has developed numerous endoscopic techniques and specialized instruments for
minimally invasive procedures in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Prof. Nahlieli has
lectured extensively worldwide, including in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and
North America.
He has published over 130 scientific articles, authored 18 book chapters, written two
books, and holds 26 international patents. His work in minimally invasive salivary
gland surgery and implantology is widely regarded as foundational in the modern
management of salivary gland inflammatory disorders and dental implantology.
